In an era of globalization, continuous development, fast growth, and the relentless search for empowerment, the demand for an efficient and smarter, if not perfect, production system is on the rise. From advanced space research and exploration to banking systems and the ever-troubled economies, the dependence on advanced technology has become vital. This has resulted in a particular focus, from different organizations’ sectors and specialties, on exploring further the concept of intelligence in machine generating systems with the aim of sustaining process-improvement practices for a better, faster, and more accurate outcome yet more economical in the long term and less dependent on human interaction. But will this fast-growing technology field offer the perfect solution for our future world and satisfy its needs?
Artificial intelligence programs rely on a strong conceptual understanding of the technologies behind AI, such as machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, and algorithms. The idea consists of creating intelligent machines that work, react, interact, reason, learn, and act for themselves like human beings with the ability to be productive in several sectors, such as education, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, agriculture, farming, and logistics. This creation comes with additional options, including but not limited to multi-language understanding, the ability to speak, the capability to detect problems, and the capacity to provide recommendations and smart solutions. Certainly, this seems like the perfect world where everything is being handled, operated, and solution-driven by AI creatures with less effort, if any, required from us humans.
Imagine the storm AI evolution will create around the world, from private users to the biggest companies. Just the thought of waking up in the morning to find your breakfast ready, your clothes washed and ironed, your car clean and refueled, your groceries bought, and your house neat, all this through the work of AI. Isn’t that great? The AI’s imprint and benefits will further be marked when used in agriculture: automatic weeding, automatic harvesting, plant disease detection, an efficient irrigation system, and the improvement of soil quality and composition; hence, a breakthrough in tackling the global food crisis and the increasing demands for supplies. AI is also having a major positive role in addressing climate change and global warming by controlling the devastating effects of deforestation, after relying more than ever on computers and iPads, which were recently adopted by our educational system. As such, fewer pencils and papers are required.
Another generous and notable aspect of the valuable tools offered by AI is the support it brings to the insurance sector. While insurance companies, insurance brokers, and insurance consultants strive to serve their clients by analyzing and assessing the risks contained within each business activity, ChatGPT puts at their disposal a bouquet of added values that help them improve their business profitability and client retention. This includes risk assessment and underwriting, fraud detection, risk management, investment strategies, loss prevention, compliance and regulatory reporting, and other important operational tools. Furthermore, AI is achieving revolutionary success in manufacturing execution systems: massive production, higher profits, and lower expenses and costs. Needless to say, the benefits of AI are endless, and the hype around generative AI nowadays is immense, considering the brilliant, amazing, and large-scale outcomes from such a small silicon piece called Chip-tech! But what if we are faced with a Chip-tech production shortage problem?
For sure, one problem is looming on the horizon: the excessive reliance on AI. No doubt, artificial intelligence is currently being heavily invested in for the comfort of humans, their thirst for success, exploration, and economic gain, but isn’t it replacing us? Will we become jobless and feel useless with AI being introduced in so many sectors and becoming itself a workforce? Would it be safe for us to live in a world predominantly supervised and powered by AI? There is obviously an ever-growing concern regarding the ethics of using this revolutionary and innovative system, with more products being introduced to monitor human movements and identities. As such, less freedom is being granted. The ethics problem is also a major concern when AI is being invested in developing more sophisticated weaponized systems, with big nations and major players boasting about their military capabilities and abilities to engage in wars of massive scale and threatening to use cross-border missiles
In conclusion, artificial intelligence is indeed becoming indispensable for our modernized world’s growth, but the weight of its importance in making this planet a better and safer place to live depends mainly on our integrity, good faith, and intentions in using this remarkably valuable innovation called AI.
